MARIELLA, Limited Edition for Mother’s Day 2023
In creating this figurine, we thought first of all about the atmosphere: it had to convey reflection and serenity, a mother thinking of the child she has yet to bring into the world, imagining what he or she might be like, captured in the moment when she begins to picture the child before her — still hazy, yet so present that she could almost caress it. This was the mother we wanted to portray this year, in that intimacy that is hers alone, with that faint awareness of what is about to happen, yet still far away.
Mariella is therefore shown kneeling, her hands resting in her lap as if wrapping around the image she already holds in her mind, a large, soft flower in her hand, and her clear, dreamy gaze turned towards the future.
The pale-blue dress, with its soft and delicate print, is simple, with a high waist almost like a summer nightgown, light and flowing, with an underskirt that creates a sort of train behind, and a soft, solid-coloured collar that wraps around the shoulders with a double V-neckline.
Her brown hair falls loose over one shoulder, with no ribbons, no braids, free as if she were getting ready for the evening, to go and dream, while her face is tinted in pastel shades, from the pink of her lips to the blue of her eyes, to her cheeks flushed with the emotion of the moment.
Underneath, painted on the underskirt, she bears our mark “Sibania – made in Italy” and her serial number.
