Cancer according to the Zodiac

With Cancer Summer starts and flowers begin to turn into fruit.

Among all signs, Cancer is the most welcoming, soft and condescending sign. Thoughtful and diligent, affectionate and emotional, he is the archetype of the unconditional parental love for the children. He is sensitive to others’ suffering and needs, and nothing frightens him more than the future unknown or the precariousness of some situations.

Home and family are the main values for Cancer, and on a wider scale Homeland and traditions, past and History. He therefore reveals a nostalgic personality, which jealously preserves memories (especially of childhood) and escapes the present frustrations by withdrawing to the past, remembrance, or dreams.

He tends to indulge himself in comfort, to leave things as they are, hence the difficulty of cutting with the past and accepting changes.

Waiting is the attitude most used in solving problems.

Cancer interpreted by Sibania

Cancer is a sign that strongly cares for the people he chooses to surround himself with, and here in his pose we find this thoughtfulness in the symbolic embrace to his loved ones.

The simple but refined dress symbolizes sensitivity, while the curled layers of tulle on the skirt recall the iconography of the sign: eight leaves (four in one side and four in the other, as the crab legs) that give the figure a touch of old times that goes well with his nostalgic soul. The hair gathered in two flowing tails again recall the crab, especially where they separate in couples of red locks, vaguely resembling red claws.

The colors of Cancer are white and soft pink of which he is dressed, while the eyes take up the color of the Water element and, as is the base, are purple, almost transparent. Finally, the hair is brown to remind the summer nature of the sign.

Like the other signs of Water, Cancer’s dress is embellished with details in white tulle, to give lightness and fluidity.

The Cancer symbol is hidden in the bodice, front and back, where two curls of tulle rest on an arched edge.

Sibania’s Mini Cancer

Cancer is bound to protect the ones it loves and in its pose recalls their embrace.

The simple but refined dress symbolizes its sensitivity. The hair gathered in two red tails recalls the crab. The colors of the sign are white and soft pink, of which it dresses. As for the other Water signs, Cancer’s dress is embellished with white tulle details, while the eyes are purple like the base, on which side its symbol is visible.

Every product created by Sibania is unique both concerning the realization process of every single piece and the production technology, which boasts its being inimitable by others. Each item is hand made and hand painted in our workshop, set in Vicenza (Italy). All clothes are made of thin, porcelain layers on which different kinds of textures are impressed. These layers are cutted according to the characteristics of every single template. They are successively carefully applied on the figurine body. Hairstyles are also handcrafted depending on each figurine’s unique features. Faces, clothes and accessories are painted on the biscuit with non-toxic colors. The piece is eventually baked one last time (“third firing”). Any additional details such as violin strings or the Vespa kickstands are then applied on the finished piece.
